Corrections Supervision
2/3/2020 - 2/5/2020
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Event Description
This three-day course is designed specifically for first line supervisors in a corrections environment who direct, motivate, lead, appraise and discipline others.  Supervising in a jail is different than the road and the class recognizes that with added skills.  As a result of coaching, role play, exercises, self-assessments, group discussions and lecture, participants will leave with new knowledge and skills in:

Setting expectations and holding employees accountable
Analyzing and resolving performance problems
Improving workplace communication
Gaining listening and assertion skills
Coaching others for improved work performance
Learning behaviors and characteristics of quality leaders
The role of motivation in performance

The course also features realistic corrections-based scenarios with participants identifying and addressing potential risks and legal issues in the corrections environment such as: inmate behavior management; safety and security of the facility, staff and inmates; supervision of mandated recordkeeping and reporting; the different challenges facing small-, mid-, and large-sized jails; and, much more!
